WORLD : The drones were “successfully engaged” in Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen, the command said in a statement, noting that there were no injuries or damage reported by U.S., coalition, or commercial ships.
Also on April 16, Yemen’s Al-Masirah TV, which is run by the Houthis, reported that two “American-British” strikes hit the western province of al-Hodeidah.
The strikes targeted the district of Bajil, in the eastern countryside of the costal province, the news channel said without providing any further details.
The Houthis, who are backed by Iran, have attacked dozens of vessels affiliated with Israel or owned by the U.S. and the United Kingdom in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden since last November in response to the Israeli war and siege on the Palestinian Gaza Strip.
In an attempt to deter the Houthis, the U.S. and the UK have carried out more than 400 strikes against Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen since January. At least 37 people were killed and 30 others were wounded in these strikes. Nevertheless, the group remains undeterred.
