In September of 2022, TrialSite News reported on the first public meeting of SA VAERS, the South African Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System, which is an independent and alternative reporting system. The objective of the group is “to give victims a voice, enhance data transparency, and strengthen accountability and chances at compensation. Convened by Shabnam Palesa Mohamed, a TrialSite contributor, the SA VAERS conference includes outspoken subject experts such as Dr. EV Rapiti, Dr. Herman Edeling, Dr. Stefaan Oosthuizen, Dr. Erika Drews, Dr. Mare Olivier, Dr. Shankara Chetty, Fahrie Hassan, Adv Sabelo Sibanda, Dr. Zandre Botha, Dr. Jessica Rose, and James Roguski.” Now, the activists are taking action against the South African government.
Case Against the Government
VAERS has now morphed into VAECA (Vaccine Adverse Effects Class Action), and a class action suit has been filed against the South African government. VAECA is taking action because they believe the South African authorities have made a “reckless decision to inject children 5-11 years old with experimental, dangerous, ineffective” Covid-19 vaccines early in 2023. According to Shabnam Palesa Mohamed, the group is working to “prepare a case that will test the court’s willingness to protect children and adults from a controversial, unnecessary, and exorbitant drug product, on which the ‘safe and effective’ narrative is demonstrably false.” The case is based on clinical reports from doctors, health care workers, reports submitted to SA VAERS, international systems, and “expert research.”
“In the Public’s Interest”
VAECA says they’re taking this action in the public’s interest because they believe they have a duty to protect from “harm, injury, and death.” The group would like South Africans to keep a record of the negative effects of the vaccine. People can do this through their website here.
As TrialSite has reported, there has been a disparity between vaccinated and unvaccinated in Africa. Even the World Health Organization (WHO) has pointed to the fact that wealthier nations are more highly vaccinated than poor countries. Perhaps, the rush for vaccine “equity” has trampled on individual rights. VAECA’s effort appears to be another step toward protecting the rights of individuals in South Africa.
