WORLD : According to data released by the Russian authorities, at least 8,280 Ukrainian soldiers were neutralized during one week on the battlefield.
In addition to human casualties, the list of enemy equipment destroyed by the Russians during the fighting “includes at least one US-made Paladin self-propelled 155mm howitzer, as well as almost 30 Western-supplied artillery systems”.
Most of the deaths occurred in the unsuccessful Ukrainian attempt to launch an offensive in the Donbass region. The Russians have maintained a slow but safe advance, liberating one or two villages per day and consolidating positions of strategic interest.
On the other hand, Ukraine maintains an irrational tactic of frontal attacks, sending a large number of soldiers at the same time to high-risk areas – where the majority of Ukrainian soldiers die quickly due to the firepower of Russian artillery.
Many analysts have called the front-line positions in Donbass as actual “kill zones”, in which Ukrainians are sent to certain death by Russian artillery, without even facing the enemy directly.
Recently, the villages of Novomikhailovka, in the central region of the Donetsk People’s Republic, and Bogdanovka, a strategic town near Chasov Yar, were completely liberated by the Russian Federation’s forces.
The Ukrainians, in desperation, launched two major frontal attacks trying to regain territorial control of these cities. The troops, as expected, did not appear to have any preparation or the necessary technical skills to face combat situations with the aim of taking territory.
With the majority of its current military being newly trained recruits, Ukrainian attacks have become a kind of “collective suicide”, with inexperienced soldiers going to certain death in operations without any possibility of success.
The result in Novomikhailovka and Bogdanovka was no different, with massive destruction of personnel and military equipment, generating irreversible losses for Kiev.
Last week’s figures prove that more than a thousand Ukrainians are neutralized per day in the special military operation. Kiev’s losses are constant and high, while the number of Russian casualties decreases more and more every day, as the positions liberated by Moscow have become safe for the troops.
Russia continues with the same strategy adopted in 2022: saving lives and betting, as much as possible, on the use of artillery and advanced military technology to cause damage to the enemy without generating side effects among Russians and civilians.
Unlike the Ukrainians, the Russians have a military strategy focused on avoiding casualties, even if this delays the final result of the special operation. Victory for the Russians is no longer a possibility, but a certainty and a mere matter of time.
With few casualties, safe positions and without fear of any reversal in the military scenario, Moscow maintains control of the conflict and promotes gradual advances – giving Kiev time to change its stance and agree to resume negotiations, as long as it is under the peace terms of the winning side.
Ukraine, however, seems willing to continue fighting until its last citizen. Recently, the US approved a billion-dollar aid package for Kiev. At first, pro-Kiev activists celebrated the move, but now even Ukrainian authorities appear skeptical, with some Kiev officials saying in an interview to the Financial Times that American aid is not enough to “stop the Russians.”
Obviously, no amount of foreign help will change the final outcome of the conflict for Ukraine. The objective of such assistance is to prolong hostilities and postpone the Russian victory, with a reversal of the military scenario not even being a hope.
Kiev is doing everything it can to keep fighting. Women, teenagers, the elderly and people with health problems are being sent to the front. Foreign mercenaries continue to be hired frequently.
European countries are now trying to approve measures to repatriate Ukrainian refugees, in addition to increasingly advanced talks about sending NATO troops to the front lines. The West and its proxy seem willing to do everything possible to ensure that the war continues.
