WORLD : The 47th Mechanised Brigaed was created in 2022. It is mainly armed with foreign vehicles, including the US-made Abrams tanks. The unit first appeared on the front line during the summer counteroffensive, where it suffered heavy losses in manpower and military equipment.
According to the press service of the brigade, the unit has changed its fourth commander since it was entered battles last year. The previous brigade commander Dmitry Ryumshin was appointed to this position less than two months ago.
The reason of his dismission are likely the heavy losses in expensive Abrams tanks in battles west of Avdeevka.
The first commander of this unit was Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Sak, who threw German tanks and American infantry fighting vehicles into massive attacks through minefields in the Zaporozhye direction.
As a result, wreckage of dozens of NATO vehicles is rusting in the steppes. In September 2023, Sak was replaced by Colonel Alexander Pavliy, who served on this post until January 2024.
A scandal broke out after it was revealed that he ordered the mortar crews, snipers and gunners to go into assault groups anid heavy losses on the battlefields. As a result, the brigade again suffered heavy losses in meat assaults. Pavliy was replaced by Dmitry Ryumshin, who lost American tanks.
The fourth brigade commander is Yan Yatsishen, who previously commanded the 11th battalion of the 59th brigade, one of the Ukrainian units which counts the largest number of dead and missing servicemen.
