Ukrainian media reported a series of explosions in the capital and several other cities with air defenses activated to repel alleged Russian drone and missile attacks on Thursday morning.
«Several blasts were heard in Kiev after the city’s administration warned the residents of an incoming attack around 2am local time, according to news agency UNIAN» according to Russia Today.
At the same time at least explosions blasts were reported in Odessa, news agency RBC Ukraine reports. Local residents shared unconfirmed photos and videos of the purported strikes on Telegram.
Calls on the public to heed warnings about missile threats have also come from Nikolayev, Poltava, Chernigov, Sumy, Kharkov and Dnepropetrovsk regions, among others.
The Russian Defense Ministry has so far not commented on the alleged strikes.
The reported strikes come after Ukraine allegedly launched two drone attacks intended to strike Russian President Putin’s Kremlin residence. The aircraft were downed using electronic warfare measures and did not cause any casualties or damage, according to the Russian president’s office.
“We consider this a preplanned terrorist action and an attempt against the Russian president,” a message from the Kremlin read. Russia reserves the right to retaliate in a manner, place, and time of its choosing, the statement added.
“The attack on the Kremlin, assassination attempts on political leaders, acts of sabotage at railways, electricity transmission lines, and infrastructure facilities, including the explosion of the Crimean Bridge, and gas pipeline blasts, are the facts of terrorist activities of the Kiev regime and its sponsors,” Vladimir Vasilyev, leader of the ruling United Russia party’s faction in the State Duma, or lower house of Russia’s parliament, was quoted as saying on the faction’s Telegram channel.
«The Kiev regime’s ringleaders and their minions will be tracked down and inevitably and properly punished, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov told a news briefing on Sunday» TASS Russian News Agency reported.
“All faces, voices, telephones, whereabouts, IP-addresses and messages among all Ukrainian Nazis, who are responsible for humiliation and torture of our comrades are being identified and put on record. The same concerns the ringleaders of the Kiev regime and their minions, who call for torture of Russian soldiers in violation of the prisoners-of-war treatment convention. All of you will be tracked down and inevitably and properly punished,” he said.
“After today’s terrorist attack, there are no options left other than the physical elimination of Zelensky and his clique.”
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, according to Medvedev, “is not even needed for signing an instrument of unconditional surrender” the deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, said on his Telegram channel on Wednesday.
“Hitler, as is known, did not sign it either. There will always be some substitute,” Medvedev wrote.
«US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who infamously lies about Russia, says he “cannot validate” these claims and “would take anything coming out of the Kremlin with a very large shaker of salt.”» The Gateway Pundit reported.
The US “is not encouraging or enabling Ukraine to strike beyond its borders,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters on Wednesday. Jean-Pierre spoke after an attempted drone attack on the Kremlin, which Russian officials have pinned on Kiev.
Top Russian MP calls for use of weapons ‘capable of destroying Kiev regime’
According yo Russia Today, Senior Russian lawmaker Vyacheslav Volodin has called on Moscow to use any weapons necessary to remove the “Nazi regime” in Kiev. The comments followed a failed Ukrainian drone attack on the Kremlin that allegedly targeted President Vladimir Putin in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
“The terrorist act against the president is an attack on Russia,” Volodin, who serves as State Duma chairman, said in a Telegram post.
“[Vladimir] Zelensky, who gave orders to carry out terrorist attacks, now stands on a par with other international terrorists,” he added, referring to the Ukrainian president. Volodin claimed that the government in Kiev is as dangerous as groups such as Al-Qaeda and Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS).
