Eyewitnesses pointed out that law enforcers were not at all prepared for such aggression from the protesters. Users were also surprised by the unjustifiably brutal behaviour of the protesters.The video shows protesters breaking through the police cordon, knocking down law enforcers and falling down themselves. Preliminary reports suggest that police used pepper gas on the outskirts of Melbourne – in Richmond.10 officers were reportedly injured in the clashes, 235 people were detained, 193 of them arrested for violating the coronavirus restrictions imposed, the rest for assaulting police as well as drug and weapons offences.
